Yealink T29G Phone Guide - Revised 4/2/16

Picture
The photo above is the Yealink T29G IP Phone.  This document will guide through various features and how to use each feature.  Your phone may not be programmed with all of the features as this is a general guide for all features.

Screen - The T29G is equipped with a 4.3"  color screen.  To the left and right of the screen are soft buttons that can be assigned to various tasks such as Line Buttons, Call Park, Call Retrieve and Busy Lamp Fields which allow you to see what other extensions in the system are doing.  Along the bottom of the screen are 4 soft keys which will change to different options based on different tasks in the system. If your phone has more than 9 buttons configured, the bottom button on the right side becomes a Page Button which allows you to scroll through the pages of the buttons on the phone.

Directional Buttons - In the center of the phone is an Up, Down, Left, and Right button.  Use these buttons to navigate through menus on the phone.  Press the OK button to select.  Press the X button to cancel or go back a menu.

Dialing - When dialing you do not need to enter a 1 for long distance calls and after dialing the 10 digit number, press the # key (also labeled send) to start the phone call.

History- When the phone is idle, the first soft button at the bottom of the screen is the History button.  Press this button to view recent incoming and outgoing calls.  Use the Up or Down Arrow to scroll through the list and press the Dial soft key to return a call that you missed or redial a call you made.

DND - This is the Do Not Disturb Button.  If you press this button, your phone will not ring and all calls will go directly to voicemail.  When the phone is in DND mode, a red icon appears in the upper right corner.  Press the DND button again to remove from DND Mode.

Menu - The Menu button allows you to edit settings of the phone such as ring tone, display picture, etc.

Line Buttons - Your phone should be configured with the first 3 buttons on the left side of the screen showing your extension number.  The purpose of this is to be able to handle up to 3 incoming out outgoing calls at one time.  This means each phone can do this and each phone has it's one 3 lines.  Putting a call on hold on one phone will not allow you to go to another phone and press one of the 3 buttons and pick up the call.

Call Park - Call park is used to be able to put calls onto a "System Hold" where the call can then be picked up by another phone. For example if you answer a call on one phone and need to pick it up another phone.  Or if you want to Park a call for another person to pick up without transferring and risking it going to voicemail.  You would Park the call and then tell the person they have a call parked.

While you are on a call, press Call Park.  The system will ask you for an extension number.  Enter the extension number of where you want to park the call.

Call Retrieve - To retrieve a parked call.  Press the Call Retrieve button and enter the extension number where you parked the call.

Volume Control - The volume control is located in the center at the bottom of the phone.  The phone has 3 volume controls.
  1. Ringer Volume - To adjust the volume control, with the handset on the base.  Press the left or right hand side of the volume control to lower or raise the Ringer Volume.
  2. Speakerphone Volume - When using the speakerphone, press the left or right hand side of the volume control to lower or raise the Speakerphone Volume.
  3. Handset Volume - When using the handset, press the left or right hand side of the volume control to lower or raise the Handset Volume.

Message - Press the message button to check voicemail messages.  If you have a message waiting, the light will be on.  The default password for your voicemail box is 0000.  You will be required to record your name the first time you login.  Follow the prompts to also record your greeting people will hear when they are leaving a message.

Headset - The headset button is used in conjunction with a wireless headset, if equipped.

CONF - The CONF button is used for conferencing in multiple calls.  To use, while talking to the first person, press the CONF button.  Then press another Line Button not in use.  Dial the number and after talking to the second person, press the CONF button again to join the 2 calls with you into a 3-Way call.

HOLD - The hold button puts calls on a private hold and no one can pick up the call except the original person/phone that put the call on HOLD.  While on HOLD the person calling in will hear hold music.

MUTE - The mute button is used to mute the microphone when using the Handset, Headset, or Speakerphone.  This mutes the microphone to the other party cannot hear what you are saying, but does not put them on hold to where they hear hold music.

TRAN - TRAN is used to transfer calls to another extension.  You will need to know the phone extension you want to transfer to.  When you press TRAN and enter the extension number.  The other extension rings first and you will talk to that person first.  When you hang up, the transfer is completed.  You can also press TRAN, dial the extension and hang up.  Then the extension you transferred the call to will ring.  When they answer, they are talking to the original call or it will go to their voicemail.

RD - The RD button is used for Redialing calls.  Press RD two times to call the last person you dialed.  Press once to bring up the History and select the call you want to call and press the Dial Soft Key or the OK button in the center of the directional pad.
